Air fryer salmon is an easy main dish to throw together in a hurry, and it makes the most juicy, delicious salmon.
Okay, so we’ve already established that your air fryer can do more than breaded things when I showed you my basic air fryer chicken breasts.๐๐ป We are going to use that same concept to make some salmon.๐๐ป
If you watch my Instagram stories, you have seen me make this multiple times over the last few weeks for lunch. It is just so quick and easy! So easy that I often make it for lunch for myself, rather than a sandwich or leftovers.
Air fryer salmon would also make a fantastic low key dinner. It can be ready in a mere TEN minutes. Yes, really! Crazy, but true. Pair this with some baked potatoes and a salad, and you are all set.๐๐๐ป
How to season salmon
I started by blotting my salmon filets dry with paper towel and then simply brushing on olive oil.
You could also use cooking spray, if you prefer. Make sure and get both sides to help the fish not stick. Then I sprinkled with one of my favorite seasoning blends: Trader Joe’s chili lime.
If you want some other suggestions, here are my other go to seasonings for salmon:
- salt, pepper and garlic powder. After cooking, squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of green onion or parsley (or fresh herb of your choice).
- garlic soy marinade, as seen in my easy grilled salmon recipe
If you have a favorite seasoning blend for salmon already, by all means please use it.
How to cook salmon in the air fryer
After you have it seasoned, it is very simple after that. I cook my salmon on 400 degrees for 7 minutes. These filets were about an inch thick at the thickest spot. I have done thinner ones at 6 minutes, and it has worked out great.
And the result? The most perfectly cooked salmon!๐๐๐ป
Flaky, juicy, amazing texture over here, y’all.๐คฉ
What to serve with air fryer salmon
I served it alongside a simple Greek salad seen in these photos. Below are some other great side dish suggestions.
- Roasted cauliflower
- Caprese orzo salad
- Corn salad with avocado, tomato and lime
- Asian ramen slaw
- Air fryer sweet potato fries
- Cilantro lime rice
- Air fryer roasted potatoes
- Air fryer baked potatoes
- Lemon garlic roasted Brussels sprouts
- Roasted broccoli and mushrooms
- Instant pot black eyed peas
- Greek quinoa salad
- Instant pot sweet potatoes
- Spiralizer Greek salad
- Rainbow roasted vegetables

Air Fryer Salmon
Air fryer salmon is an easy main dish to throw together in a hurry, and it makes the most juicy, delicious salmon.
Ingredients
- 2 salmon filets (mine were 6 ounces, about an inch thick at the thickest spot)
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon Trader Joe's chili lime seasoning blend (see other seasoning blend suggestions in Notes)
- salt and pepper to taste, if needed (I did not add any)
Instructions
-
Pat your salmon filets dry on both sides with a paper towel.
-
Brush on the olive oil on both sides. Alternatively, you could use cooking spray.
-
Place the filet, skin side down into the fryer basket. Sprinkle seasoning on top.
-
Cook at 400 degrees for 7 minutes. Note: Cook time may vary, depending on the size and thickness of your filets. Mine were 1 inch thick in the biggest part. I have made some thinner cuts, and 6 minutes was enough for those.
-
Optional toppings: fresh parsley or thin sliced green onion (pictured).
-
Serve immediately.

I just purchased a black and decker crisp and bake toaster oven air fryer and want some ideas how to cook salmon and chicken breasts please.
Susan Robison says
always have to cook longer
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Susan! Yep, salmon cuts can vary greatly in thickness, and this would affect cook time.

Jacqui Somen says
This looks amazing! And easy. Do you have a preferred air fryer?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Thank you! No, not preferred. I am actually not happy with my particular air fryer, as the nonstick coating is peeling off.๐ซ
Monique Hogan says
This looks amazing! Do you preheat the air fryer? I have had an Instant Pot for over 2 years, I love it, but we got the air fryer lid to change things up and brown dishes that needed it. Hubs is thinking I’ll make fried okra in it, fat chance ๐คข. So I’m seriously a newbie with this air fryer. More intimidated by it than I ever was with my IP!!๐
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Monique! No preheating needed for this recipe. And I think the learning curve with the Instant Pot is harder than the air fryer. You’ve got this!๐๐๐ป

Diana Marra says
Question: what kind of air fryer do you have?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Diana! I actually would not recommend the one I have because the nonstick coating is peeling off. This already happened once, and the company sent me a new fryer basket, which is also peeling again. So I am in the market for a new one too! I think Phillips would be on the top of my list as far as brands. Hope that helps!

I feel like I really need to use my air fryer more – this looks wonderful! I usually poach my salmon but I might try this recipe next time.
Thanks so much for sharing!
