When it is party season, there’s nothing better than a good dip. If that dip also has the benefit of being packed with protein? Even better. Buffalo chicken dip has all of the flavors of your favorite buffalo wings, minus almost all of the work. You can even dip carrot or celery sticks into it if you’re counting carbs, and you won’t miss any of that signature flavor.
You can even serve this with buns as a buffalo chicken salad sandwich. Dice up your celery and mix it right in!
How to make buffalo chicken dip in the slow cooker
First, gather your ingredients.
Ingredients
For best taste, always use the highest quality ingredients you have access to.
To make this buffalo chicken dip recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- Chicken breasts
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder
- Chicken broth
- Buffalo sauce
- Cream cheese
- Sour Cream
- Sharp cheddar cheese
- Ranch dressing
You can substitute reduced-fat cream cheese and sour cream if you’d like. The texture will be a bit less creamy, but still delicious. You can use a homemade ranch dressing and buffalo sauce if you prefer.

Cooking slow cooker buffalo chicken dip
Buffalo Chicken Dip is a simple recipe that can be made in just a few steps. Here is how to make it.
Season the chicken breasts.
Add the chicken breasts, chicken broth, and Buffalo sauce into the crockpot. It should cover the chicken.
Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours, or on low for 4 to 6 hours, until the chicken is tender and easy to shred.
Once the chicken is cooked through, use a hand mixer to shred the chicken.
Add the cream cheese and continue to blend.
Stir in the sour cream and half of the shredded cheese.
Sprinkle the other half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, cover again, and continue heating until the cheese is melted.
Drizzle ranch dressing on top. I like to transfer the dip to a serving dish for easier dipping.
Serve warm with your favorite dippers.
TIP: This recipe can also be made in the oven. Just bake at 325°F until the chicken is tender and shreddable, then bake again after the chicken is shredded, with the cheese on top, until melted.
Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Always use common sense and good judgment when it comes to leftovers, though! If something looks or smells funky, don’t eat it.
I hope y’all enjoy this easy buffalo chicken dip recipe! Let me know if you try it.
