Our simple recipe for homemade Cajun Fries are cooked in the air fryer and taste amazing! These make a great side dish or even a fun snack.
Ingredients
- 2 large russet potatoes
- 3 tablespoons avocado oil or other neutral oil
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Scrub the potatoes and cut them into quarter-inch sticks, then place them in a bowl of cold water.
- Whisk the sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes in a separate bowl.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Drain and pat the potato sticks dry, then put them in a bowl. Add oil and about three-fourths of the spice mix, and toss.
- Place the potatoes in the air fryer. Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
- If not crisp enough, raise the temperature to 425°F and cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with the remaining spice mix and toss again.
Recipe Notes
Using a full teaspoon of red pepper flakes brings more heat. Consider using less if you prefer milder flavor.
