Sautéed broccolini is a quick, flavorful side dish that combines broccolini, garlic, and a touch of citrus. This version also features capers for a briny contrast and red pepper flakes for a hint of heat. It’s lightly charred in olive oil, then finished with lemon juice and Parmesan for a well-balanced dish. This dish is great served alongside roasted meats and pasta or for enjoying alone.

The key to perfect sautéed broccolini is cooking it over medium heat, allowing it to develop a slight char while retaining its bright green color. Adding a splash of water to the pan helps steam the broccolini, letting it become tender without overcooking. This one is a must-try if you enjoy simple, flavorful vegetable sides.

How to make sauteed broccolini

First, gather your ingredients.

Ingredients

For best taste, always use the highest quality ingredients you have access to.

To make this sauteed broccolini recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Broccolini
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Lemon Zest
  • Capers
  • Kosher Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • Lemon Juice
  • Shaved Parmesan Cheese

If you don’t have fresh garlic cloves, you can substitute garlic powder for a similar flavor.

Freshly cracked black pepper makes a huge difference in this recipe compared to a pre-ground black pepper. It gives way better flavor, so keep that in mind!

Sriracha sauce can be added instead of red pepper flakes during the saute if you are a fan of that hot sauce. We love it!

Sautéing broccolini is an easy cooking method that anyone can master, and this recipe is very versatile. Don’t like capers? Skip them! Can’t eat cheese? Don’t use it! You’ll still end up with an amazing dish that your whole family will love.
