I am ringing in the new year by sharing this 4-ingredient simple green smoothie recipe.
Happy 2016, y’all! The new year is here, and I know a lot of us are ready to resume our healthy lifestyles after the indulgent holidays.
I am still pregnant, for those of you still wondering. And yes, I am officially overdue by a few days. Sigh.
So I have been trying ALL the tricks and old wives tales to try and get this baby girl to be born already!
One of those tricks is eating pineapple, which happens to be one of the ingredients of this smoothie. It also has some fresh spinach in it, which provides a little iron boost – one of the nutrients that is important to have plenty of during pregnancy.
But you definitely don’t have to be pregnant to enjoy this simple green smoothie! This is actually one of my go-to’s any time. When I am making it for myself I rarely measure. But I measured everything out this time for you guys…to make sure you have easy-to-follow instructions and more accurate nutritional information.
I am also using my go-to almond milk: Blue Diamond original unsweetened almondmilk.
This is my top pick for making smoothies. There is no added sweetener. I find that I don’t need it, since the fruit I use already contains so much natural sugar. And it is lower in calories and Weight Watchers points.
Speaking of Weight Watchers points, I am not yet on the SmartPoints plan, since I am still pregnant. I will be working to transition all of my existing and new recipes to include SmartPoints over the next few weeks and months. But y’all will have to bear with me for a little bit! Having a three-year-old and a newborn is going to be keeping me pretty busy, especially at first. If anybody wants to calculate SmartPoints for this recipe, let me know, and I can add it!
I am using my Blendtec total blender (<- affiliate link) to make this recipe, which is great about grinding up leafy greens to a really smooth consistency. Bonus side note: Blendtec has the refurbished ones on sale right now! But this recipe should work fine with any blender.
