If We Met for Coffee

I didn’t have anything planned for a blog post today. So I thought it might be time for another virtual coffee date! Where we pretend we are sitting and chatting about food, kids, and life in general. You know…just catching up and shootin’ the breeze!

So pour yourself a cup of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

if we met for coffee.jpg

If we met for coffee I would tell you that I feel perpetually behind. With everything! Work tasks pile up faster than I can finish them. There seems to always be a load of clothes in the dryer waiting to be folded. Sometimes there is a wet load in the wash waiting to be put in the dryer, and a dirty load on the floor, waiting for it’s turn. There are always dishes to wash, meals to plan, messes to pick up. And I am by no means a perfectionist when it comes to housekeeping. I have learned to let go of a lot. And this isn’t a complaint really. It is more of an observation. It does overwhelm me at times, though. And I wonder if I will ever get to a point where I feel caught up? Probably not. Oh well! Such is life, I guess.

If we met for coffee I would tell you that my parents are coming to visit this weekend! And I am so excited to see them. They moved to Florida three years ago, and we are about a five hour drive away now. That is the furthest I have ever lived from them, and I do not like the distance. But I am so glad to see them! And little buddy will be over the  moon. He loves his Nana and Pop!

If we met for coffee I would tell you that my son is at the age where he likes to be perpetually entertained. He is so active and energetic and curious. I love it! We are making plans to get out of the house this weekend and take him to a local outdoor fun event with face painting, balloon animals and games. Although he is pretty happy with just wandering around our own yard.

If we met for coffee I would tell you that I made a few impulse purchases from Amazon this week. Silicone Baking Cups were the first buy. I want to make some scrambled eggs and veggies to eat during the week. And muffins of course! I also bought a couple of these Copco Tumblers. I use them for my DIY iced coffee drinks. I love the coffee house versions, and these make me feel like I am having one from Starbucks.

If we met for coffee, I would tell you that I am planning my vegetable garden this year! I have skipped a lot of planting the last two years due to keeping alive a tiny human. But I miss home-grown tomatoes! So I have already prepped the garden. The threat of frost is usually over in Alabama the first week in April, so I will be plating things very soon. I enjoy growing veggies. It is more than just a hobby to me. It is an escape and a stress relief. I will share pictures on the blog once I get things planted.

What about you? What’s going on with you this week? What’s on your mind? Feel free to play along in the comments.

I would tell you to not worry about the laundry or any of the housekeeping. Enjoy your little man…enjoy reading a book…enjoy your blog (I know I do). I once read that trying to keep your house clean while raising children is like shoveling outside when it’s still snowing!

I would tell you to enjoy re-learning the world through your son’s eyes. It will go by so fast. You blink and they are teens…shaving!

I would tell you that there is no such thing as an impulse buy from Amazon!! 🙂 I love Amazon and all the little gadgets that make my life so much more fun and entertaining. Amazon is a need….in my humble opinion….

I would also ask you to share your garden with us. Any tips on how to grow and tend herbs ( I try every year and somehow fail miserably)? Any recipes you create with your veggies and herbs? I love to garden and have been longing for a big fresh juicy tomato! I’ll live with the store tomatoes but sometimes there’s just no tomato this those tomatoes… 🙂

    Enjoy your week!!!!

Thanks Tracy! 🙂 That is such a good analogy about keeping house with kids…LOL. I agree about Amazon! Great idea on the garden post. I am putting that in my plan for the week. Herbs are the easiest thing to start with. I have had better luck with some than others.

I too feel always in a rush. It really does take the fun out of things. I have developed a love of Starbucks Lattes. I do not like the fat free ones so that mean 5 points for a grande eek!! I would like to find something I like just as we’ll that I can make at home to save points and $$$

Gardens are fun. I love to do peppers and tomatoes. I love squash, but I always have some bug get my squash and zukes. I decided to do a flower garden this year though. I love to cut flowers! I will miss the veggies though.

I am so ready for Spring and good weather. Our forecast for the weekend calls for rain, but they have been wrong two weekends in a row, so I’m hoping for picnic weather tomorrow. I think we might do a picnic by the bay!

    Have a good weekend!

I have never had good luck with squash either. Hope you get some sunny weather (and a picnic too) in there somewhere! Have a great weekend! 🙂
