I would recommend the documentary called Minimalism it is on Netflix and is made by the Minimalists. I also love listening to their podcasts while I am cleaning. They talk about a lot about consumerism in it. I really enjoyed watching your video and look forward to updates. There are a ton of youtube videos on Minimalism too, like you said everyone has their own level of minimalism
Love this! I would like an update, how is it going? this is definitely something I want to work towards myself. When you did your purge, did you donate the stuff or sell the stuff that could net you an income? Just curious. BTW you look adorbs in this video and you haven’t changed since our younger days in school ๐
I am still going through it! I took a load to the thrift store just a few days ago, right after Christmas. It has been a slow process. As you know, when you are a mama a lot of our energy and attention gets sucked into taking care of the kids and the household, meeting practical needs, etc. And the other 3 people in my house keep bringing more stuff in…LOL!
So it has not gone as quickly as I had wished. But it’s still going! I am giving away the vast majority of it, just to get it OUT. I have held on to a few things that I might sell – a breast pump, an old kindle, a juicer that I barely used, etc. I have consigned a few of my kids’ nicest clothes that were barely worn. But I am battling in my mind if I even have the time to manage selling very many things….or if I just need to let it go and give it away too.
I will definitely post an update soon. It is also tied to no longer dieting or pursuing “weight loss” which has been a huuuuuge shift for me too since I spent so many years doing that. It is so good to hear from you Lori! XO
Hi Marjorie! Loved the video ๐ I recommend the Minimalist podcast, and some of their books, and also “The More of Less” by Joshua Becker. I’ve been going on a more minimalist path since this spring. I agree it’s definitely personal, and I love the buffet analogy! Also, “Note to Self” podcast does a series on unplugging from your phone and social media which you might find helpful. Good luck with it all!

Thanks Lisa! I ran across Joshua Becker on YouTube…amazing! I really want to read that book. I am glad to hear you liked it. And I most definitely need to check out those podcasts. Thank you so much for those recommendations.
You’re welcome! Glad to be of help! I’ll have to look for Joshua Becker’s youtube videos!
