Other names for pico de gallo include salsa fresca and salsa cruda. Whatever name you choose, it is like adding a pop of delicious freshness to your food.

It is usually made from chopped tomato, onion, peppers, with salt, lime juice, and cilantro. This can be used in much the same way as any other salsas. Like on chips!

Gardeners! This one is perfect for you to use all those homegrown tomatoes and peppers. Homegrown veggies would be SO good in this. Of course, it is more than fine to get your ingredients at the grocery store like I did.😉👌🏻

Making pico de gallo

Making this recipe mostly involves chopping and assembly, y’all. Simple stuff.

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño pepper, garlic  and chopped cilantro.

You can either make the dressing (lime juice, salt and pepper) in a separate bowl, or just squeeze and sprinkle it over the top. And then lightly toss to combine.

That’s it! Yes, really. Serve this pico de gallo with your favorite corn chips, or on your fave Mexican or TexMex food: nachos, tacos, flautas, burrito bowls, etc.
