This salmon recipe is super versatile, and goes well with rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad, making it an excellent option for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

The simple homemade glaze, made with honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes, adds some sweetness to the fish with perfect heat. The extra sauce can be drizzled over grains, rice, or vegetables, or just eat it with a spoon. It is that good.

How to make Honey Glazed Salmon

First, gather your ingredients.

To make this honey glazed salmon recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Honey
  • Water
  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Salmon
  • Avocado Oil
  • Kosher Salt
  • Ground Black Pepper

You can use Tamari instead of soy sauce if you’d like. It has a very similar flavor profile.

Want more spice? Add some sriracha into the glaze mixture!

Cooking Honey Glazed Salmon

Honey Glazed Salmon is a simple recipe that can be made in just a few steps. Here is how to make it.

Make the Glaze

Whisk together honey, water, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and set aside.

Season the Salmon

Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over the fillets.

Sear the Salmon

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add avocado oil and heat for 1 minute. Place the salmon presentation side down and cook for 5 minutes.

Flip and Finish Cooking

Turn the salmon over and cook for another 4 minutes until fully cooked.

Glaze and Serve

Transfer the salmon to a serving platter and spoon the warm honey glaze over the top. Serve immediately.

Leftovers

Store leftovers in a covered container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Always use common sense and good judgment when it comes to leftovers, though! If something looks or smells funky, don’t eat it.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce or tamari sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves very finely minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

For the salmon

  • 2 pounds salmon skin removed, cut into 4-6 pieces
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, whisk together the honey, water, soy sauce, garlic and red pepper flakes.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and set aside.
  3. Sprinkle salmon with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil to the pan and heat for 1 minute. Add the salmon, presentation side down, and cook for 5 minutes before flipping and cooking for another 4 minutes on the other side until cooked through.
  5. Transfer salmon to a serving platter and spoon over the warm honey glaze. Serve right away.
