Since I have still been struggling to write about food (<- thank you, pregnancy nausea!), I figured it may be a good time to have a coffee date and catch up on things! So grab a cup of iced coffee or tea, and join me!

Work
You may remember how I was laid off from my corporate job back in February? Well, somehow I landed a part-time contract job in the same field, working for a different company here in Birmingham.
It’s kind of perfect right now because I only have to go into the office one day a week, and my boss is generous enough to let me do the rest of my work from home.
It has been an adjustment, fitting everything back in. We decreased our child care when I lost my job, and so fitting in a part-time job, blogging and all of the other responsibilities has been a bit of a challenge.
But I am thankful for the provision this job has been for our family. The company has been great to work for so far, and I am so thankful for all the flexibility they have allowed me.
Pregnancy
I am officially in the second trimester now at a little over 14 weeks.

Woo hoo! But! The nausea and fatigue are still hanging on. Please excuse the dirty bathroom mirror in the above selfie! I feel like I am showing so much more than I did with my first pregnancy.
I find it difficult to just get through the day sometimes with my low energy level. I see all the things I need to be doing, and rather than tackling them like I normally do…all I want to do is take a nap! LOL.
I have been super emotional too. I cry at the drop of a hat.
We did have some testing done, and we were able to learn the gender of our baby! I will be sharing that a little later on. The test is supposed to be about 85% accurate, so I may wait until that 20 week ultrasound for us to confirm visually what the blood test told us before I share. ๐ So stay tuned for that.
Motherhood
Oh, my sweet son can be SO sweet, but he can be SO naughty too! He is reeeeeally testing his boundaries right now. In a major way. When I tell him not to do something, he will pause, smile, look at me in the eye and DO IT anyway. It is exhausting, but I am trying to be consistent with discipline and reinforcing boundaries.
On the positive side, he is so curious and inquisitive right now. He is really into spelling things (verbally). He can write a few letters, but he LOVES to spell things, and he is constantly asking me how to spell things. He can spell his name, Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Pop, Fan and a few other words.
He is very compassionate and caring too, which is so sweet. He can tell when I am not feeling good. Sometimes he will pat me on the back and say, “…you okay Mama?” It is so sweet.
I cherish these last few months with him as an only child. I wonder how all that’s going to go once the baby is here? Hmmmm…
Blog
I am so ready to be back to posting my recipes regularly! Hopefully this nausea will pass soon.
The amazing thing is that I have watched my blog traffic go up a little, even though I am not posting regularly. Part of that is thanks to Pinterest (<-follow me!). More people seem to be pinning my recipes, which is so exciting. Thanks for that friends! ๐ My traffic from google has increased a little bit as well.
Still, I must admit I feel like I should be posting more. Thank y’all for bearing with me during this time!
I have been watching a lot of YouTube lately, especially being so sick and tired. It helps get my mind off how bad I feel. I have some ideas for different YouTube videos, so hopefully I will get around to filming some of that soon.
I have also become involved with a lovely group of bloggers, and we meet for lunch once a month in Huntsville. I have to laugh when our food comes to the table. Every. Single. Person is taking pictures of their food and Instagramming it. LOL! I am not the freak at the table in this bunch. I am surrounded by people like me. ๐ I am looking forward to our upcoming meet-up next week.
Feel free to play along in the comments!
Let me know what you’ve been up to lately. ๐
If you have more than one child, did you show more in your second pregnancy?
Do you watch YouTube? If so, what type of videos do you like the most?
Do you Instagram your food at restaurants?
Are you into Pinterest?

I am so happy you got a job! My little guy (who is fixing to turn 2) is a total handful most days! Hopefully, the nausea will subside soon. So happy for you! You look great.in your pic!

Ugh! My nausea lasted the whole time with both my kids. This is going to sound crazy but my doctor told me to take Unisom (the over the counter sleep aid). I would take half of one every night around 7:00, go to bed at my normal time and wake up with much more manageable nausea. I know it sounds crazy but it was magical. You should try it. ๐
I think I might be the only person that didn’t show sooner the second time. I swear I felt the baby moving around 11-12 weeks but didn’t need maternity clothes until like 18 weeks.

I have been in maternity clothes for several weeks. And I swear I can feel the baby moving already too! I didn’t feel movement with my first until like 20 weeks. The nausea is getting better, but it is definitely not gone.

Thanks Katie! I’m glad it’s not just my imagination about showing earlier. ๐ I am the same way with Pinterest (and YouTube!). It’s like I get sucked in, and before I know it I have wasted all this time…LOL.

Aw thanks so much Nancy! ๐

I sometimes wonder if lying down makes me feel worse…LOL. Because sometimes I just lie there and think about how bad I feel. That’s where YouTube came in – mind distraction! ๐ Thanks for all of those video suggestions.

I feel like the worst person. I somehow missed your pregnancy announcement. Oh my word! Congratulations. What an exciting time (aside from the fatigue & nausea) in your life. I know you aren’t planning to tell us for a bit longer, but I have a feeling it’s a boy. Can’t wait to follow along your journey if you choose to share.
Marjorie@APinchOfHealthy says
Don’t feel bad Jessie! You’ve got your hands full. And thanks for the well-wishes. ๐
