This is the BEST vegan brownies recipe, and it is a delicious treat to make for yourself or your sweetie on Valentines Day, or anytime.

vegan brownies stacked on top of each other on white surface

Most of the desserts I post here are not meant to have any sort of health halo. They are meant to exist simply to be enjoyed.

That being said, this vegan brownies recipe is suitable for anyone who needs to avoid eggs or dairy, or anyone who is vegan. But! It can be fully enjoyed by anyone, because people will eat food if it tastes good.

Ingredients

To make these vegan brownies, first gather your ingredients. For tastiest results, always use the best quality ingredients you have access to.

Ingredients with label text on white surface

To make vegan brownies, you will need the following:

  • all purpose flour
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • baking powder
  • kosher salt
  • sugar
  • unsweetened applesauce
  • plant – based milk
  • vegan butter (or coconut oil)
  • vanilla extract
  • vegan chocolate chips

How to make vegan brownies

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.

In a medium size bowl combine the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt. In a separate medium size bowl whisk together the sugar, applesauce, milk, oil and vanilla.

Mix the chocolate chips in until well-incorporated. The batter will look like this.

Spread the batter evenly into the baking dish and top with more chocolate chips if desired. (We measure chocolate chips with our hearts over here.😉👌🏻)

Bake in the center rack of the oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownies comes out mostly clean.

Get ready for anyone who is in smelling-distance from you to appear and see what’s cooking. Remove the brownies from the oven once they are done and place the pan onto a wire rack and let them cool for at least 30 minutes.

Then lift them from the pan using the parchment paper and place them onto a cutting board.
