Form each piece of dough into a round ball, flatten it a little bit and use your finger or the end of a wooden spoon to make a whole in the center of each bagel.

You can also roll each piece of the dough out into a log shape and form it into a circle by connecting both ends of the dough together. They should look like this.

FAQs

What is in an everything bagel?

An Everything Bagel takes a plain bagel and adds a blend of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, garlic powder, and sea salt sprinkled on top.

Are everything bagels healthy?

Yes, as long as your doctors okay you eat all purpose flour. This recipe in particular is animal product free, which makes it suitable for vegans, and those with allergies to dairy and/or eggs.

Why is it called an everything bagel?

David Gussin claims he invented the everything bagel sometime around 1980. According to Gussin, he developed the idea one day while sweeping up leftover bagel toppings from the oven. Instead of disposing of the leftover toppings, Gussin saved them in a bin and convinced the store owner to make bagels with them.

What are the black seeds on everything bagels?

Poppy seeds are on everything bagels, and occasionally some will have black sesame seeds as well.
