Ingredients

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks - about 4 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil + 1 teaspoon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Dry each tuna steak with a clean paper towel. Brush each one with some olive oil on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl mix the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper together and rub it all over both sides of each piece of tuna.
  3. Heat a cast iron pan to medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of oil to the pan. Once the butter is melted and the pan is nice and hot, place the steaks into the pan and cook them for about 2 minutes per side for a medium-rare steak or 3-3.5 minutes per side for a medium-well-done tuna steak.
  4. Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon and your favorite sides.
