Vegan Mashed Potatoes

Vegan mashed potatoes are an easy side that everyone enjoys! And bonus: this recipe is suitable for anyone who avoids dairy.

If you need a dairy free side dish, Ive got you covered friend. Also, feel free to go all mashed-potato-bar, and make this into a main dish if you like.

How to make vegan mashed potatoes

First, gather your ingredients.

For tastiest results, always use the best quality ingredients you have access to.

To make this vegan mashed potato recipe, you will need the following:

  • Yukon Gold potatoes
  • vegan butter
  • olive oil
  • unsweetened plant-based milk
  • Kosher salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • chives – optional for garnish

How to make vegan mashed potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes.

Next, boil the potatoes. Add the potatoes to a large pot and over them with water.

Place the pot on the stovetop and bring it to a boil, then cover the potatoes and let them cook on low heat for about 15 minutes, until they are fork tender.

Drain the potatoes and add them back to the pot. This is how I save on messing up additional dishes. However, feel free to use a mixing bowl if you prefer.

Use a potato masher or fork to mash the potatoes. Make sure to mash them while they are nice and hot.

Stir in the butter, olive oil, milk, salt and pepper. Top with chives and serve hot.

  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes or russets – peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons vegan butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup unsweetened plant-based milk soy, almond
  • salt & pepper to taste
