Cooking Sweet and Sour Tofu Over Rice
Sweet and Sour Tofu Over Rice is a simple recipe that can be made in just a few simple steps.
First, mix up the sauce: Add all sauce ingredients to a medium bowl and whisk well to combine. Set aside.
Cook the tofu: Add the tofu to a large bowl, add 1 tablespoon oil, tamari, and cornstarch and lightly toss the tofu to coat it all evenly.
Heat a frying pan to medium heat on the stovetop. Add the remaining oil. Once the oil is hot, then add the tofu and toss and cook until it is golden brown on all sides, about 3 to 5 minutes. Or until the tofu is golden brown like this.
Then transfer the cooked tofu to a plate or bowl.
Cook the veggies: In the same pan you cooked the tofu in, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the bell peppers and onions and toss and cook for a few minutes until the veggies are soft.
Put it all together: Add the sweet and sour sauce to the pan with the vegetables and toss and cook it for 1-2 minutes. Add the tofu back to the pan and toss it in the sauce with the veggies.
Remove it from the heat.
Then serve immediately over a fresh bed of rice with a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top.
