This strawberry banana smoothie makes a great healthy snack or breakfast. With only four ingredients, it is super simple. It is one of my go-to smoothies.
Smoothies are a great way to get in more fruits and veggies! I enjoy making smoothies for breakfast and snacks. My kids love them, and I love them too.
This strawberry banana smoothie is one of our staple smoothies that I make the most often. Why? Because it checks all my boxes, y’all.
- Simple and easy to make 😎👊🏻
- Delicious 😋
- I almost always keep all the ingredients in the house
- It is easily customizable.
I usually make this with regular plain unsweetened almond milk. You can use any milk that you like best – cow’s milk, oat milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, etc.
You also could use a vegan or dairy free yogurt if you like. I like using plain Greek yogurt because it makes the smoothie more satisfying to me. That protein has sticking power y’all.💪🏻
Do you add sweetener to a strawberry banana smoothie?
I never need it. That is one of the things I love about this smoothie. The banana is enough to make sure everything is sweet and creamy. And usually the strawberries bring some sweetness too.
Many smoothie shops and fast food places add sugar to their smoothies. While I am not opposed to sugar (have y’all seen my dessert recipe collection?! 😉🙃)…I do not prefer to add it to things when it is not necessary.
You can always taste is first while it is still in the blender. If you want more sweetness, feel free to add some honey, agave, or sweetener of choice and blend for a few more seconds to combine.
Can I use fresh strawberries and/or frozen bananas?
If you do use fresh strawberries, I would recommend using frozen banana chunks.
If you want to use all fresh (not frozen) fruit, you other option is to add ice, which I do not recommend. Why? It waters down the taste of the smoothie. So be sure and use at least some frozen fruit to get the best taste.
If you use frozen everything, it usually becomes too thick and tough to blend. When I have done this in the past, I end up adding more almond milk, which again, waters down the fruity taste. So I like and recommend using a combination of frozen and fresh fruit best. 👍🏻
Can I use any blender to make a strawberry banana smoothie?
I am using my high powered Vitamix professional series 750 blender in copper. (Amazon affiliate) I saved up for years to buy this thing, y’all.
The Vitamix is a dream come true. 😍 It is beautiful, powerful, and it works great!
I will say that I have made this same recipe in many other (less expensive) blenders and it has worked out great. There may be a rogue strawberry chunk here and there, but it works great in most cases.👍🏻

Strawberry Banana Smoothie {made with Almond Breeze}
This strawberry banana smoothie makes a great healthy snack or breakfast. With only four ingredients, it is super simple. It is one of my go-to smoothies.
Ingredients
- 1 banana medium sized
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries (5 ounces measured on a food scale)
- 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt (I am using 2% Greek)
- 1/2 cup almond milk
Instructions
- Place all ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth.
-
If the mixture appears to be too thin, add a few more frozen strawberries and blend again. If too thick, add a splash more of the milk.

Recipe Notes
*If you are using fresh strawberries, I would recommend using frozen banana chunks. Adding ice to thicken up the smoothie can make the taste watered down, which is why I don't recommend it.

My 11 month old daughter Alyvia loved it! I added her Gerber Blends peach yogurt instead of Greek yogurt! She couldn’t drink it fast enough! ❤️

Could you use fresh strawberries and if so how much for the recipe? Sounds good thinking about trying it but strawberries are fresh, froze banana earlier.
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Cheryl! Sure, you could use fresh strawberries. To get the frozen texture, I recommend using either frozen banana or adding a few ice cubes. I prefer the frozen fruit, but ice will do in a pinch.

I’ve added a tablespoon of peanut butter to add some thickness. It also makes it less tart. ❤

Soooo good. First time I tried Almond Milk, minus the coconut blend, but even with the Reduced Sugar Vanilla flavor this recipe is great. My 2 year old gives it thumbs up also.
