This is how to make macerated strawberries, which are great as topping on desserts and other dishes.

These are great on cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, pancakes, ice cream and more. And I give you two versions: (1) classic macerated strawberries, made with sugar and lemon juice and (2) balsamic macerated strawberries.

How to make macerated strawberries
First gather your ingredients.
Ingredients
For tastiest results, always use the best quality ingredients you have access to.

To make this macerated strawberries recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- fresh strawberries
- white sugar
- lemon juice (or balsamic vinegar for the alternative flavor)
Assembly
Slice the strawberries to your desired size. See mine below.

Classic macerated strawberries (plain)
Add the sliced strawberries to a medium size bowl. Sprinkle the sugar and lemon juice over the strawberries.

And toss to coat them all.

Because strawberries can vary in sweetness, be sure and give one a taste to see if you need more sweetness. Start with 2 tablespoons of sugar in the original recipe, and then taste and add more if the strawberries are not sweet enough.

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. The longer they sit, the juicier they will get.
Serve over ice cream, pancakes, or on cheesecake.
Balsamic version
Add the sliced strawberries to a medium size bowl. Sprinkle the sugar and balsamic vinegar over the strawberries and toss to coat them all. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

Nutritional information is approximate and was calculated using a recipe nutrition label generator.
Each recipe (2 cups of strawberries) makes four servings. Since two variations are given (plain vs balsamic), the recipe card states 8 servings. Each serving is about 1/2 cup strawberries.

Hi, could I use monkfruit sweetener in place of regular sugar? Thank you.
