Today I am sharing a tangy homemade dressing that I love on a good Greek salad – Greek red wine vinaigrette.

This actually tastes a lot like the vinaigrette at Zoe’s Kitchen, one of my favorite restaurants. It is a chain now, but did you know the original Zoe’s is here in Birmingham, AL?!
This dressing is sooo delicious, and I have used it in so many of my other recipes:
- Greek salad with grilled chicken
- Greek potato salad
- Greek quinoa salad
- Greek pasta salad
- Greek salad
Y’all be sure and check those out. ππ» I have gotten tons of positive feedback on those recipes. ππ»ππ» Basically it is great on anything with feta cheese, anything Greek/ Mediterranean. Try it on this Mediterranean Bowl!
I even have a video of that Greek pasta salad that shows how I make this dressing.
Ingredients
The ingredient list is pretty simple, and you will likely already have most, if not all, of these ingredients already in your pantry.

To make this red wine vinaigrette recipe, you will need the following:
- red wine vinegar
- olive oil
- water
- garlic powder/ granulated garlic
- dried oregano
- dried basil
- salt and pepper
How to make red wine vinaigrette
Measure each ingredient, and add to a mason jar (or other container with a tight-fitting lid).
Shake to combine.
Alternatively, you can make this in a small bowl, and whisk the ingredients together.
Note: this recipe will separate after sitting. Note: dijon mustard is my emulsifier of choice, but I like this recipe better without it.
Also, store in the refrigerator, and take out 15 to 30 minutes prior to using to bring to room temperature. Why? The olive oil tends to solidify in the fridge. Bringing it to room temperature liquifies it again.
I hope y’all enjoy it! I make this all the time, and it is one of my favorite dressings.

Can this be used as a marinade?
Mike says
Sure, why not?
Chris j Nelson says
Hi, thanks for providing this recipe! I was wondering: would I see any benefit by mixing this in a vitamix in terms of keeping it from separating?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Chris! Great question. Blending it may emulsify it (combine it) for a bit, but eventually it will separate back out.

What’s the difference between Greek Red Wine Vinaigrette and regular red wine vinaigrette?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Kazy! This recipe is interchangeable for either. I called it Greek because it was inspired by the dressing on my favorite Greek salad from Zoe’s kitchen. I use it on anything though, not just Greek food. Chef salad, grilled chicken salad, etc. It is good on any Greek salad recipes too, including Greek potato salad and Greek pasta salad. Hope you enjoy!

Fabulously delicious!! I would appreciate so much knowing what a serving size is!! I wish all recipes did this, instead of how many servings!! For those of us who have to count calories, it is a blessing to see the serving size!!
Kikki says
Based off the measurements of the wet ingredients everything adds up to a cup, so that is 16 tablespoons. So based off this serving 8- a serving size is 2 tbsp.

Can you use fresh minced garlic? Not in oil or water or anything like that just, fresh minced garlic… thank you so much for this recipe is amazing! I will use it on everything.
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Great question! I have never done it in this particular dressing recipe, but I don’t see any reason why it would not work. It may have a bit more of a garlicky bite, but you might enjoy it that way if you love garlic as much as I do!
Jen says
Hi sorry but do you know that on your recipe that you did a middle finger emoji, itβs not a number one finger emoji. Just so you know
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
LOL, Jen!π€£ Thanks for catching that. It was supposed to be the first finger, pointing above at those links. Gah, I need an editor, clearly. ππ Thanks for speaking up!π
Marybeth says
I add fresh chopped tomato qnd feta too.
Karly says
I saw that you said dried spices… so is the garlic garlic powder, garlic salt, dried minced garlic? Thabk you!
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Hi Karly! Great question. You can use either garlic powder or granulated garlic. I would not recommend dried minced garlic. And since the recipe already includes salt, I would not recommend garlic salt either. I updated the instructions for clarity.
Amy Leonard says
Does it need to be refrigerated after I make it?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
That is a great question. I always do stick mine in the fridge, at least at the end of the day, just to be on the safe side. Just be sure and take it out 15 minutes or so ahead of using it so that the olive oil can liquify.
Christy says
This is one of our MOST favorite salad dressings! It is even better than the one at Zoe’s. YUM!
Norma Dykes says
are spices fresh or dried for the greek salad dressing?
