My chicken BLT salad with avocado is a simple meal that is inspired by a traditional bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. This is a great way to use leftover grilled chicken.
In fact, if I have leftover grilled chicken in the fridge, there is about a 90% chance that I am going to make this salad. It is definitely one of my favorites! 😍👌🏻
And the flavor combination totally reminds me of that classic BLT sandwich that we all love. I added the chicken and avocado to make this more of a salad-as-a-meal.
I like the fact that this salad has lots of sustenance to it. It is very satisfying and delicious!😋
Tips for Making Chicken BLT Salad
It helps to have the bacon, grilled chicken and ranch dressing already made. But it’s not totally necessary.
Also, I am using my own grilled chicken and ranch dressing recipes as the base of the recipe. They taste best in my opinion. But feel free to use store prepped grilled chicken (or even leftover rotisserie chicken) and your favorite ranch.
I would suggest waiting until right before you eat to slice your avocado, since avocado tends to brown. Just a heads up if you are making it ahead!
I used Trader Joe’s precooked bacon for convenience. I did crisp it up in the toaster first because I prefer crispy bacon in this recipe. You can use any bacon you like.
Also, I went with a mayo-based dressing to stick with the BLT theme.
This makes it taste more like the classic BLT flavor profile. But this would be great with other dressings too, such as balsamic vinaigrette.
