The sum of the ingredients is better than the individual parts with this one, y’all! The flavor of 7 layer dip is out of this world, and we have made some version of this recipe for years and years. Anybody else? Such a classic recipe!

What is 7 layer dip?

According to Wikipedia, it is a classic American appetizer that showed up in the early 1980s. It started in Texas, and was eventually published by Family Circle magazine in 1981 where it gained popularity.

The dish typically includes refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, olives and other toppings such as jalapeños, cilantro and green onion.

How to make 7 layer dip

First, gather your ingredients.

Ingredients

For tastiest results, always use the best quality ingredients you have access to.

How to make this recipe vegan

7 layer dip is super simple to adapt to be vegan friendly and/or dairy free.

  • Simply use vegan sour cream or cashew cream.
  • Use your favorite shredded vegan cheese. This recipe is still very tasty without any cheese as well.
  • Also, make sure your refried beans are vegetarian/ vegan.
