Today I am sharing a sample day of my Weight Watchers meals.
I think I am slightly different than your average Weight Watcher because (although I am not perfect!) I try to stick close to mostly whole/ real foods, full fat versions of cheese and mayo, and I avoid artificial sweeteners. You can read more on my food philosophy here, FYI.
I have been doing Weight Watchers since October, and I have lost over 30 pounds (over 55 pounds in all since the birth of my son)! For more on my back story, see my About page.
My Day of Healthy Eats
On to the food! For breakfast I have been on a protein shake kick.
Why? Because I am learning about how important it is to eat enough protein when you are losing weight – to try and retain as much muscle as possible. Because the goal is to lose fat and keep as much muscle as we can, amiright?! Protein shakes are an easy, convenient way to get a nice amount of protein for little amount of points.
Anyway, I blended vanilla protein powder (4pp) with banana, a couple of frozen unsweetened strawberries and some unsweetened almond milk (1pp). I also had two cups of coffee with half-and-half and sugar in each (2pp for the two cups).
For lunch I made a sandwich with scrambled egg (2pp) with a few pourable egg whites for volume (1pp), on light wheat toast (2pp) with one wedge of laughing cow swiss (1pp) and a few avocado slices (2pp).
I paired it with a side salad with mixed berries, watermelon chunks, goat cheese (2pp) and my homemade balsamic vinaigrette (1pp).
After lunch I had my usual half-caff iced coffee (1pp).
I hardly ever eat cold cereal for breakfast, but sometimes I will eat it for a snack. I weighed some honey nut O’s (3pp) out using my digital scale. Then I threw on some raspberries and topped it with half a cup of almond milk, which came out to 0pp in my tracker.
For dinner I had a hearty slice of meat loaf (6pp). It doesn’t look all that pretty in the photo, but it sure was tasty! I served it up with some mashed potatoes (3pp) and green beans.
I have been serving myself dinners on a salad plate lately. Our everyday plates (Ralph Lauren Boxwood – sadly discontinued!) are really large. Having less “white space” on my plate is a way that I mind-trick myself into feeling like I am eating a little bit more.
I am feeling so much better mentally in my weight loss lately. As I mentioned in my weigh in vlog yesterday, I lost 2.2 pounds last week. That is the biggest loss I have had in a while. So if you are struggling, keep at it! Try tweaking a few things, one at a time. But don’t give up!
How do you stay motivated when you are trying to lose weight?
Thanks to Jenn for hosting WIAW!
