In the hectic flurry of getting the family packed and on the road Friday morning, I did not film a weigh in video. However, I DID weigh in. I am happy to report that I lost one pound last week. So YAY!
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! We sure did.
We are traveling back home today. So even though family time and beach time was awesome, I will be happy to get back on normal schedule with my eating and activity. Vacation can be a challenge when you are trying to lose weight, and despite my planning and best intentions I did indulge quite a bit. And I did stay pretty active as well.
I did have a moment of realization when I was carrying my thirty pound son to the beach one morning. This time last year I was carrying that thirty plus pounds not in my arms but on my entire body. I was more than thirty pounds heavier this time last year. It was a moment that I was proud of myself and how far I have come. Those moments of celebration and gratitude are so important! Don’t let them pass you by.
I did really enjoy myself while on vacation, and part of life is learning to do that without going overboard, AND without feeling guilty or beating yourself up. One day or even one week of semi-indulgent eating is not going to make you fat. It is what you do over the majority of time in the long-term that counts.
The scale may not shake out in my favor this next week. But what’s done is done. I can’t change what happened on vacation. But I can get right back in the swing of things. These healthy habits that I am making for myself are paying off. I just have to be mostly consistent over time. A vacation is not going to ruin that. I won’t let it.
So if you ate too much over the holiday weekend, just get right back on plan. The shorter your detours, the better off you are going to be. It is just like that car analogy: If you are driving a car, and if you get lost and suddenly realize you are going the wrong way…just turn the car around. Don’t keep going in the wrong direction just because you have been driving that way for so long! Turn the car around.
I hope you all are having a great week!
